Militia. The Oklahoma Territorial Council (a house of the Territorial Legislature) created the Territorial Militia in August 1890; reorganized as the Oklahoma National Guard in 1895. With 1907 statehood, units shifted from former Oklahoma Territory into former Indian Territory.
